Waverly Middle School Circulation Policy and Procedures

Library hours are generally from 8:00-4:00 on regular school days.

Books may be checked out for 2 weeks (14 calendar days)

Students may check out up to 4 books at the same time unless media specialist or teacher detremines otherwise. Of those four books, only two may be fiction.

Books may be renewed for additional 2-week periods but the student must bring in the book before it will be renewed.

Reference books may not be checked out.

Magazines can be checked out for one day. Students not returning magazines will be charged the cover price for the magazine..

If books are lost, students are encouraged to look carefully at home and school. Often books are found. However, if a book cannot be found, they must be paid for at the original purchase price. If the original purchase price is not known, the price will be $10.00 for paperbacks and $20 for hardbacks. If a paid book is found during the same school year, the payment will be refunded.

There are no overdue fines. If a book is overdue at the time of report cards, the report card will be held.

There will be a fine for damaged books. The media specialist will determine if a book is merely damaged or if it is ruined. Fines include but are not limited to $2.00 for turned down corners and pencil writing which can be erased. There will be a $5.00 fine for books with ink writing and the book may be deemed ruined depending on the amount and content of the writing.
