2008 - 2009 Literacy Class
Literacy
class is a specialized corrective reading class taught at all middle
school grade levels. My Literacy class is taught during
first period. I am currently teaching the LEVEL C Decoding
class. We are focusing on learning new vocabulary, sentence
structure, punctuation, spelling, listening skills, and notetaking. We also practice our reading fluency daily by reading a timed passage for two minutes.
Corrective Reading is written for students who have difficulty
reading accurately and fluently. The Corrective Reading Decoding
program provides a unique blend of teacher-directed instruction and
high-frequency practice to accelerate decoding. This proven
intervention program progresses from teaching letter sounds and
blending to reading passages typical of textbook material. Detailed
data on performance allows students to monitor their own improvement
and experience success.
We
also subscribe to the Lincoln Journal Star everyday as an additional learning tool.
