About
The 2005-2006 school year marks my third year as the guidance counselor
for Dorchester Public Schools and my second year for McCool Junction
Public Schools.
I hold two half time positions and will typically be at Dorchester on
Tuesdays and Thursdays and at McCool Junction on Mondays and
Wednesdays. I will alternate on Fridays so please call ahead if
you plan to stop in and visit with me. You may also check the calendar
link on the left to see where I will be at.
I graduated from Schuyler Central High School in 1979. In high
school I was very active in FHA (now called FCCLA) and the yearbook
staff a long with various other activities. It is not a surprise
to those that know me well to find that I graduated from Kearney State
College in 1983 with teaching endorsements in Family and Consumer
Science, Journalism, HERO (Home Economics Related Occupations), and
Diversified Occupations. I loved school and have never really
left that type of lifestyle. Every job I have ever had has
related to my love of family studies and journalism and is a trend that
began in high school. As a counselor, I know how important it is
for students to discover the things they like and are pationate about
at an early age. It will ensure finding employment that one will
find rewarding.
My work history includes teaching Home Economics and Journalism for
Broken Bow Public Schools from 1984-1988. I then married my
husband Grant and taught for Geneva Public Schools from
1988-1997. In the summer of 1997, I accepted a job offer that
took me into the corporate sector working as a yearbook representative
for Jostens for seven years. The job kept me tied to schools and
students.
In the Summer of 2002, I began work on my master's degree program in
School Counseling and Guidance. In 2003, I took a part-time
position with Dorchester Public Schools and enjoyed the experience so
much, I left the yearbook business entirely in 2004 and began working
part-time guidance at McCool Junction as well.
I finished my Masters Degree in School Counseling and Guidance from UNK in May of 2004.
I am married to Grant Fisher, the principal at McCool Junciton Public
Schools. We have two wonderful children. Bailey, our daughter, is
in fifth grade this year. Our son, Gabe, is in fourth
grade. We fill our family time with sports events, boating, horse
riding, reading and church activities.
Life is an adventure I find rewarding. As a counselor it is my
goal to help students discover what interests them and how to make wise
choices.
