April Showers Bring May Flowers
We have many exciting days coming up in the next couple of weeks. As we are preparing for the end of the year, we still have many wonderful opportunities on the calendar. Waverly Intermediate will have a 'Field Day' , on Friday, May 9, utiliziing our track and football field for a day of fun in the sun. Kindergarten will have their music concert Friday, May 9, at 2:00 PM in the Hamlow gym. Lincoln Boys Choir will be performing on Tuesday, May 13 at Waverly Intermediate School. The performance is scheduled to begin at 9:15 AM in the gym. Friday, May 16th, 3rd grade will head to Arbor Lodge, 5th grade will be bowling, and the kindergarten students will be visiting the Children's Zoo and Valentino's.
Class Lists & Placements for 2008-2009
It is also that time of the year in which our staff begins working on placements for the next school year. The placement of students is quite an involved process with many aspects taken into consideration. These are some of the factors that are taken into account when the school determines student placement: parent input of teaching style, equity regarding the numbers of students in each classroom, social considerations, equity by gender, and heterogeneous grouping of classrooms by academic ability. We don't take specific requests for a teacher, but we do take teaching styles into consideration. You can submit a request, in writing, to the office with the teaching style noted. We definitely appreciate your input but we cannot guarantee any placements. We have 550 students kindergarten through 5th grade with many considerations to take into account. We are a growing district and usually experience some growth throughout the summer months. Placements will be finalized on August 1 and posted on the doors at both Hamlow Elementary and Waverly Intermediate School.
Lunch Balances
Please keep a positive balance in your family lunch account. As the end of the year rolls around we will need to make sure all accounts with negative balances are taken care of as soon as possible. We cannot set up the program for the following year until all accounts are caught up.
