New Year's Eve Webquest
Introduction: How do you celebrate the New Year? Do you make a New Year's Resolution? Do you eat 12 grapes? Do you throw plates at your friends' houses? Do you wear yellow underwear? These are all ways that children from around the world ring in the New Year.
Task: You must plan a New Year's Eve party using traditions from around the world. Where will you meet? What will you do? What will you eat? You will use a Year's Eve Party Planner and the internet to plan your party. Then, you will design an invitation to your party.
Process:
1. Click here to print your New Year's Eve Party Planner.
2. Research New Year's traditions from around the world on the following websites.
3. Plan your party by filling out the New Year's Eve Party Planner.
4. Design an invitation.
5. The invitation must reflect the activities and cultures that your party represents. For example, you could draw pictures that represent New Year's celebrations from another country. You could also learn how to write "Happy New Year" in another language.
6. The invitation must also include all of the necessary information about your party, like the date, the time, and the place. You could also tell your guests what to wear (Will it be casual or dressy?) and what you will do or eat.
Evaluation: Your Party Planner and invitation will be evaluated using the following rubric. Click here to download an editable and printable rubric.
