The following works cited information is taken from the MLA (Modern Language Association) version for citing sources.

BASIC FORMS FOR PRINT AND ONLINE SOURCES
The MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers provides extensive examples covering a wide variety of potential sources. If your particular case is not covered here, use the basic forms to determine the correct format and consult the MLA Handbook.

When citing familiar reference dictionaries, do not give full publication information. List only the edition and the year of publication.

If you are citing a specific definition, among several, add the abbreviation Def. and the appropriate designation (eg., number, letter).

When citing less familiar reference dictionaries, especially those that have appeared in only one edition, give full publication information.
