6th Grade Expectations

6th Grade Industrial Technology

 

 

EXPECTATIONS:

 

Students are expected to:

 

1.     Be on time and in class everyday.

2.     Participate in the designated daily activity displaying a productive effort.

3.     Remain in the assigned area until the teacher  dismisses the class.

4.     Be responsible for any of their equipment used in  the lab area.

5.     Make up all work missed due to an excused  absence.

6.     Have respect for others working in the lab.

7.     Be polite to others working in the lab.

8.     Have self-control when working in the lab.

9.     Be reliable in their work.

10. Notify teacher immediately in case of an accident,  no matter how trivial it may appear.

11. Most of all have FUN!

 

CLASS PROCDURES:

 

1.     Students will come and sit down when bell rings.   They will then be instructed what to do by the instructor.

2.     Notes will be taken on all discussions, guest  speakers and field trips.

3.     All lab work and written assignments must be  completed by due date.

4.     Students will use correct terminology when talking  about all machines, tools, and materials used in the  shop.

5.     Passes will be given to students if the instructor  feels necessary.  Students will make sure they bring all   their materials with them to class and will have gone to  the bathroom.

 

HOMEWORK POLICY:

 

1.     All homework assigned will be turned in on due       date.

2.     Homework will consist of         

        Drawings           

            Project

        Work sheets

              Papers

                Any thing else as assigned

3.     Most work will be lab work,

4.     Any question missed on test and quizzes may be  redone for half credit.  For each question missed the  student must write each question down, write where they found the information, and give me a complete  answer to the question,

5.  Cheating will not be tolerated.  If found cheating the  student will get a zero on assignment or test. 

 

GRADING POLICY:

 

Grades will be based on an individual point system or on a percentage basis.  The percentages are as follows:

1.     Lab Work – 70-60%  

        Includes projects, drawings, and hands on activities. 

2.     Test and quizzes – 40-20%  

        Chapter test, safety test, and unit test      

3.     Class participation and Daily Assignments –

       20-10%

 Being involved in all class discussion and keeping   busy on projects throughout class time (worksheets, text book)

 

CLASSROOM RULES:

 

1.     Do not eat, or drink, in the lab.

2.     No horse play in the lab.

3.     Do not talk when the teacher is talking.

4.     Do not use any equipment if the instructor is out of   the room.

5.     Do not throw or drop tools or materials.

6.     Do not point the laser at anyone.

7.     No derogatory statements towards students and other teachers.

8.     NO CUSSING.

9.     Always use your head; this is the best way to avoid  accidents.

10.  Always clean up the lab before you leave.

11.  Always follow the safety rules that have been discussed in class.

12.  Failure to follow the rules in class could result in being dismissed from class.

 

CONSEQUENCES.

 

1.     First time is just a warning.

2.     Second time will result in make up time after school.

3.     Third time may result in a trip to the principal’s office.

4.     Consequences will be decided upon depending on the type of rule that was broken. The more serious the rule the more serious the consequences.

 

OBJECTIVES/GOALS FOR IDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY CLASSES 

 

1.     Develop good safe work habits.

2.     Follow the safety rules in class.

3.     To develop an understanding, knowledge, and appreciation of the tools, materials, processes and products found in Industrial Technology.

4.     To develop a degree of performance in Industrial Technology.

5.     To experience Technology in various forms and techniques.

6.     Learn the communication system.

7.     Learn the history of communication.

8.     Learn the basics of drafting.

9.     Learn the basics of Lasers.
