Classroom Evaluation Procedures

Art is an intellectual activity. The assignments you will be working on are problems and involve problem-solving skills. You will be expected to think through each problem and learn to plan each step of the project, developing good use of class time. The assignments are evaluated on the success of the problem-solving techniques involved. I do not evaluate the beauty of a project, since this is determined by taste and certainly does not indicate a successful piece of art. The assignments you are required to do are designed to improve your technical skills, to provide opportunities to create interesting works, to broaden your awareness and understanding of art elements, concepts and historical trends.

Your grade in Art will reflect your attitude in class, attendance record and class behavior, success of completing each project according to specifications, and your responsibility in keeping the Art Room organized and clean.

Student's grades in Art attempt to reflect individual levels of success based upon both ATTITUDE and ABILITY. It is total participation each day that counts.
