Fine Arts Night 2008 "Best in Show"

Every year at our Annual Art Show the artwork is narrowed from about 300 pieces down to one. The winner is seen here with her piece. It is a self portrait drawn using an ebony pencil. It was completed during her Exploratry 8 art class. We studied the use of grids, the importance of value to create form, and drawing techniques. However, winning comes at a price. After careful thought, she agreed to donate her artwork to the school and it is now hung in our Student Art Collection.
Fine Arts Night 2007 "Best in Show"

This 8th grade student is showing off his artwork that was chosen by students and teachers to be the first piece in the new Student Art Collection. He generously gave his work to our middle school to permanently hang in our hallway.
State Competitions
The Nebraska State Visual Arts Competition is a statewide competition sponsored by the Omaha World Herald. This competition includes a high school division and a separate middle school division. Students are evaluated based on creativity, level of difficulty, craftsmanship, and much more.

2007 competition: This student won a bronze medal when he created a 15” x 15” block print. He started by studying the history of quilt designs, then using what he saw and learned, he created his own design. He carved his design and printed onto paper. The entire process took about one week.
2006 competition: We had one winner (shown here) with his Bronze Medal for his self-portrait. Congratulations to this 8th grader for his OUTSTANDING achievement!
