Art Room Floor

After two years of looking at a blank cement floor, I took action.  My administration and maintainance staff all agreed to let me spice up my art room by splatter painting the floor.  It will then be protected by a clear sealant over the top.  It may be harder to see spilled paint on the floor or to find dropped pencils, but it's sure better to look at!  TAKE A LOOK!

After a slight mishap, the splattered paint in front of the sinks became very smeared.  After cleaning up, we decided the best decision from here would be to paint the section a solid color and write a really awesome art quote in the space.  The pictures below illustrate this.  It was too big to take with one picture so the quote is broken up into three separate pictures.  What a great example of making a mistake into something better!  Kind of like the quote "Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes.  Art is knowing which ones to keep."  The chosen quote for the floor is by Pablo Picasso, "Every child is an artist.  The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."
