Basic Safety Rules
Lab Safety Rules
1. Make sure you read the lab before starting
2. Always wear eye and clothing protection when using chemicals
3. Never taste any chemical in lab or pipette anything by mouth.
4. Never smell any chemical directly, “waft” the vapors toward your nose if you are required to smell something.

8. Report all accidents and injuries, no matter how small.
9. Keep your lab area neat
- turn off the water and the gas
- return all lab equipment to your bin
- make sure equipment and lab areas are clean
- dispose of materials as directed by your teacher
- wash your hands after you finish.
- Only keep items you need at your lab bench, books and backpacks should be left at the table.
