FRESHMEN & THE SDS
The Self-Directed Search (SDS) will help students explore what occupation to follow.  If a student has already made up his or her mind about an occupation, this activity may support the idea or suggest other possibilities.  If a student is uncertain about what occupation to follow, the SDS may help to locate a small group of occupations for further consideration.  Most students find this activity helpful and fun.  Team teachers will complete this activity with their team students.

SOPHOMORES & THE PLAN TEST
This pre-ACT activity will take place in various rooms in the high school.  Students will receive information assigning them to certain rooms closer to the testing date.  PLAN results and an interpretation of those results will be provided to students in December.  We ask students to put one copy of their results in their vocational notebook and to bring one copy home to you.

JUNIORS AND SENIORS:
If your student is a junior or senior, he or she must choose one—and only one—event.  Due to the specific needs of the testing companies, our transportation department, the participating colleges, and instructors, NO CHANGES WILL BE MADE once your student has signed up for an event.  Registration form will be sent home and must be on file in the counseling office in order to participate.  Other school arrangements will be made with the administrators if your student’s form is not returned.  Please ask your student to return the signed registration form to Faye Winter in the counseling office—or to send it by mail to the attention of Faye—by Friday, September 19th.

COLLEGES
The colleges that juniors and seniors can choose from are: 1) Doane College in Crete, 2) Southeast Community College-Lincoln, 3) Southeast Community College—Milford, 4) University of Nebraska—Lincoln, and 5) Nebraska Wesleyan.  A BUS OF NO MORE THAN 50 STUDENTS WILL GO TO EACH COLLEGE.  FIRST REGISTRATION FORMS RETURNED, FIRST TO GO.  ONCE BUSSES ARE FULL, SECOND OPTIONS WILL BE USED.

P.S.A.T.
The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is available to all juniors.  Successful test-taker may be eligible for National Merit Awards.  If this is your choice, please enclose the $13 registration fee in cash or check.  If using a check,  please write your student’s name in the memo section.

ACT
The preparatory workshop will take place in the high school auditorium.  High school instructors will provide review and test-taking tips for the English, math, and science sections of the test.  This is a great choice for any student who will be taking the October 25th test.

We are very excited about the doors that this morning may open for our students’ futures.
