DDR, Wii and Eye Toy

Dance, Dance Revolution
DDR – Dance, Dance, Revolution, produced by Komani is a brand name, but it is also the name commonly used when referring to most interactive dance games.  There are similar games under other brand names such as Dance Factory or Step Mania.

To use DDR in school or at home you need:
•  Game System.  Sony’s PS2, approx. $129 is most popular, but other game systems work too.
•  DDR Game.  You may purchase different DDR games just like you purchase different sports games for your game system.  Approx. $17-$40/each
•  Dance Mat Controller, prices vary greatly.
•  TV or other screen to display game
•  Optional:  Eye Toy camera, approx. $29
Many DDR type games are “enhanced for use with Eye Toy,” but do not require it.
When purchasing dance mats for school, be sure to purchase the ones made from metal so they hold up under strenuous school use.

Nintendo Wii
The Nintendo wii is a game system that retails for $249.  Currently the system packaged with wii sports, which was demonstrated today (bowling, baseball, golf, etc.)

EyeToy
The EyeToy is a color digital camera device, similar to a webcam, for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable. The technology uses computer vision to process images taken by the camera. This allows players to interact with games using motion, color detection and also sound, through its in-built microphone.

The camera is mainly used for playing EyeToy games developed by Sony and other companies. It is not intended for use as a normal PC camera, although some people have developed unofficial drivers for it. – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EyeToy

Eye Toy offers excellent options for adaptive PE activities to improve range of motion and gross motor control. Suggested games for use with Eye Toy in School PE programs:
• EyeToy: Play
• EyeToy: Groove
• EyeToy: Antigrav
• U Move Super Sports
•  EyeToy: Play 2
•  Nicktoons Movin'
•  EyeToy: Kinetic
•  EyeToy: Play 3
