Each student will be required to earn 15 points per quarter. The due dates each quarter to turn in a project will be:
Extra credit is possible with extra projects (no more than 10 points per semester). Only one project will be graded with the due date week. For extra points, turn in projects a week or more early. Please check with your teacher if you need class time for a presentation.
A written report must accompany each project. It will detail the action taken, the connection of this activity to Spanish or Hispanic culture, and a reflection of student learning. Here are some questions to ask yourself to help you write the Action - Connection - Reflection (ACR) Report.
Action – What did you do (describe it)? Did you go somewhere? When? Who participated? How much time did you spend on the project? Give as much information as possible. What channel was it on? How many pages? Did you learn any Spanish? Can you list words or record a conversation? Remember irrefutable evidence like ticket stubs, brochures, receipts, pictures, etc. will lend even more credibility to your project.
Connection – Why did you choose this project? How does it relate to the culture? To which particular culture is it related (Spanish or Hispanic)? What were your sources? What did it help you to understand about the language or the people who speak it?
Reflection – What did you learn? How did you feel? Were you enlightened? Nervous? Excited? Bored? Would you recommend this project to another student? Would you plan it differently? Has it changed any of your thoughts/ views of the Spanish or Hispanic culture? Think and reflect carefully. This is the most important part of your report. Every project needs reflection!
The following is a sample grade sheet. Each individual CPR project will be graded on the following to determine points earned.
Spanish Usage (10%): grammar, spelling, correct meanings
Action (25%): Evidence and who, what, when, where, how – details of process
Connection (25%): Good detail – connect project to culture; Shows thought. Sources listed.
Reflection (30%): How did it feel to do the project, how did you feel about it, what was learned, what would you change, recommendations for others.
