Monday, July 10, 2006
7:30 p.m. in Distance Learning Room
The Shickley Board of Education met on July 10, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. Present were Alfs, Brinkman, Lichti, and Straight. Also present was Mr. Sheffield.
The Allowable Growth Hearing was opened at 7:37 p.m. No patrons were present. The hearing was closed at 7:40 p.m.
The Student Fees Hearing was opened at 7:41 p.m. No patrons were present. The hearing was closed at 7:42 p.m.
Communications were shared from head cook, Marlene Swartzendruber.
Lichti moved and Brinkman seconded to approve the minutes of the June regular board meeting. Vote 4-0.
Straight moved and Alfs seconded to approve the treasurer’s report. Vote 4-0. Brinkman moved and Straight seconded to pay the presented claims totaling $194,042.40. Vote 4-0.
Straight moved and Alfs seconded to adjourn to executive session to discuss negotiations at 7:56 p.m. Vote 4-0. Executive session adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
The facility study will be completed in the fall. Student fees policy will remain the same. Mr. Sheffield reported on the progress of summer projects. Mr. Sheffield and Mr. Kort will make suggested changes to the dress code.
First readings of the following policies were held:
• Student Full-time and Part-time Enrollment
• Student Self-Management of Asthma or Anaphylaxis and/or Diabetes
• Dispensing Medications
• Student Admissions Requirements
• Ceremonies and Observances
• Student Discipline
Alfs moved and Straight seconded to set athletic passes at $40 for adults, $25 for students, and $100 for family. Vote 4-0. Lunch prices will remain the same for 2006-07.
A vote will be taken to increase the budget by the allowable growth and access levy exclusion by $17,130.76 at the August board meeting.
Lichti moved and Straight seconded to adopt the Joint Resolution to Prevent Underage Drinking. Vote 4-0.
Non-certified employee wage schedule will be discussed at the August board meeting.
Seating for home football games will remain the same as previous years. Discussion was held on the possible discontinuation of 8th grade graduation and will be discussed with possible action at the August 14th board meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 9:31 p.m.
Next meeting will be Monday, August 14th, 2006, at 7:30 p.m.
