Class expectations

"class expectations"

As your teacher, I will do my best to:

01. treat each student fairly.
02. make my students feel safe enough in the classroom to take risks in the course of their learning.
03. recognize each student as an individual with unique needs and abilities.
04. make the class belong as much to the students as it does to me.
05. ensure that all classroom members show self-respect and respect for the thoughts and actions of others.
06. make sure safe work practices are followed in the lab at all times.

As my students, you will:

01 be the best that you can be.
02. treat each other, and your teacher, as you would like to be treated.
03. respect yourself and school property
04. be prepared for class everyday bring pencil/paper, having safety glasses and curriculum guides, & maintain a positive attitude.

Ten Classroom/Lab Rules

01. Arrive on time, in a calm and orderly fashion so attendance can be taken and lessons started.
02. Bring needed materials to class every day...pencil/paper/safet
y glasses/curriculum guides.
03. Keep restroom visits to a minimum.  Use your time between classes and at lunch.
04. Only talk when you it is your turn to speak. Do not use profanity or hurtful words.
05. Respect others and their property at all times.
06. Do not waste time in the classroom/lab (yours or others) by not keeping busy.
07. Cooperate, especially in the lab and help each other.
08. Always follow safety procedures when in the lab.  An instructor should always be present.
09. Always put your tools away and excess wood.
10. Help clean up in the lab at the end of the period.

Grading rules for my classes:

01 We will have tests and quizes like any other class.
02. Products that you produce will be graded.
03. Lab Grades will be given. I feel these are important and consist of points that can be lost for...
.....A. Excessive tardiness
.....B. Continually forgetting materials for class.
.....C. Not following safety rules.
.....D. Continually wasting time in the lab.
.....E. Not cleaning up after yourself.
.....F. Disturbing others in the lab and keeping them from working.
NOTE>>> Your lab grade is similar to having a job. As an employer I would want you to be on time, bring things you need to work, follow rules and not waste time, and keep busy doing your job. Not doing these things will reap you consequences...generally being fired from the job if enough of them have been abused. Here in class the consequences will be a lower grade.
This should be one of your easier grades to get. Simply be to class on time with the materials you need and follow the rules and you've got a good lab grade!
