Online Resources
- HPRTEC--This is the main site that provides many of the following resources.
- TrackStar--HPRTEC site allows you to create your own site
very quickly and has added a feature for matching their tracks to
standards. Click on "themes and standards" to see the matches to
standards.
Example Track on Classroom Management: Go to
TrackStar (above link) and then enter track ID 7853, then press
[Enter/Return]. At next screen, click on "View in Frames"
- Web Worksheet Wizard--This HPRTEC web-based utility will
allow you to create a lesson, worksheet or class page on the
world-wide-web. All you need to use this utility is your browser and
some time.
Example Worksheet: Enter #5939 to see a sample one done on Cooperative Learning.
- QuizStar--This HPRTEC site allows you to make your own online quizzes. Click here to see a sample quiz.
- Rubistar--This is an HPRTEC tool to help the teacher who
wants to use rubrics but does not have the time to develop them from
scratch. This resource provides rubric templates where teachers can
then change categories, headings, and content.
- TeacherWeb--This site is as easy to use as the bulletin
board in your classroom. Post assignments, announcements, and other
educational material on your own classroom's web page. With TeacherWeb,
you simply type in new homework assignments & special announcements
while viewing your website. There is now a charge of $2.50 per month
for this service.
- Assign-A-Day (calendar)--This HPRTEC free tool is designed
to enhance teacher and student communication through an on-line,
teacher-managed calendar. Teachers create a calendar for each of their
classes and add assignments for the students to view. Students view
their teachers’ calendars in order to see assignments for classes they
might have missed, or to get an overview of the class.
- Countdown Timer from teach.net--This site gives you an
online time you can use, especially when doing cooperative learning
groups.
- Lesson Plan Template from teach.net--This site provides a
lesson plan template in Excel. You most likely will need to make
adjustments, but this resource gives you ideas of how a spreadsheet
would allow you to customize your lesson plan forms.
- Bulletin Board Ideas from teach.net--Check out this site for ideas for bulletin boards.
- Starfall--a learn-to-read website that is offered free as a
public service. They also provide writing journals and books at a very low cost that can be used with the
website or separately. Teachers around the country are using Starfall
materials as an inexpensive way to make the classroom more fun and to
inspire a love of reading and writing. Primarily designed for first grade, Starfall.com is also useful for
pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and second grade
- eBooks--Take a look at some eBooks that are on the web.
- NoteStar--Students may then take advantage of NoteStar's many features to collect and organize their notes.
- Sheppard Site on States--this site is really good for students to practice the location of states.
- parent Sheppard Software web site--check this out for many more activities similar to the one on states!
- Quia--Create activities,
quizzes, games, Web pages, surveys, and more! This is a subscription
site for $49 a year. Teachers like the interactive classroom activities
that they find or create on this site. To explore, go to this site,
then "Instructor Zone" and then click on a category under "Shared
Activities."
