Reading
The sixth grade reading program consists of the following components:
- Accelerated Reader (AR) - Students read self-selected novels
independently, do summaries, and take a computer-generated
comprehension test. Students should be reading during class and
at home each day. Please click on the highlighted "AR" for more
specific information regarding the AR program.
If a student is absent
he/she is to complete and submit a "blue" slip to receive credit for reading on the days that
were missed.
- Skill lessons based on state standards - Most of these will be
completed in class during the mini-lessons. There may be a few
occasions when a student will need to complete an assignment as
homework.
- Criteria Reference Tests (similar to the state tests that grades 4, 8, and 11 administer)
